JTC Minutes of Meeting - 3 July 2006

Attendees: 22 consisting of 13 JTC members, 8 guests and 1 visiting Toastmaster from Kebayoran Club.
Theme of the meeting: PAY IT FORWARD
Word of the day: LIBERTY

New President elect, CTM/CL Harry, opened the meeting and asked each of our guests to introduce themselves to the audience.
We had 2 Toastmasters of the Meeting(ToM), TM Dini & TM Febrina, who diligently led us through the meeting. The theme they chose was inspired from the movie "Pay It Forward". About a little boy (played by Haley Jole Osman), who started a chain reaction of spreading kindness to everyone around him.

Table Topics Session:
A very kind CTM Imung asked our Table Topics Speakers to share their kind thoughts with us:
TM Naturi said that a small, spontaneous kindness she would do is to smile. She told us of a time when she came out of her meeting room very angry and hungry but all of the anger just disappeared when a janitor smiled at her.
CL Monika (Kebayoran) explained that in being a Mentor, we can make somebody better than we are and that somebody can then make someone else better.
Guest Windy said that if she was Paris Hilton she'll spread kindness to the world by sharing her beauty, smile, strength and energy.
Guest Ida remembered vividly when a lady kindly offered her a job in a famous airline after hearing her rehearse her speech in English. She ended up working with that airline for 10 years!

Prepared Speech Session:
The only prepared speaker of the evening, TM Darmawan (BM#1: Icebreaker), shared with us why his name is Darmawan when most of his family are named with Hokkien names. Apparently, his name was given to him by the nurse who helped his mother gave birth. Darmawan decided that his name means: Person with a lot of wisdom.

Evaluation Session:
An observant General Evaluator, TM Alistair, led us throught the session with help from his team: Grammarian TM Eva, Timer TM Tassya, Ah/WOD Counter TM Edwin and Ballot Counter TM Thomas. Individual Evaluator, our DTM Nono Sarwono, gave us a tremendous evaluation of TM Darmawan's Icebreaker. Pay It Forward Session: The dual TOMs arranged something different for the evening in accordance to the selected theme. They asked everyone in the audience to say something kind to the person sitting next to them. The session was performed like a Round Robin until nothing but 'kindness' was in the air.

Hall of Fame (favourites):
Table Topics Speaker: a tie between TM Naturi & Guest Windy
Prepared Speech: TM Darmawan
Evaluator: DTM Nono Sarwono
