"TIME" - 2 July 2012
Last Monday
marked as the first JTC meeting under the brand new installed Exco. With the
four prepared speakers and five Table Topics speakers, the members and guests
were spoiled with such a brilliant meeting. The total members and guests
altogether were 23 attendees.
CC Valeriya (ToM)
conducted the meeting with her usual energetic persona with “TIME” as her the meeting theme and “beat the clock” as the Word of the
Day. She was assisted by the General Evaluator Team led by the General Evaluator, ACB/CL Harry Nizam. The
Grammarian was CC Pankaj Rastogi, the Timer
was Kevin Meng, the Ballot Counter and the “Ah”/WoD Counter were CC Kardinal.
TM Chong Moon Ong opened
the prepared speech session with his project Basic Manual #3 entitled “Inspired to Live,
Live to Inspire”. He successfully inspired the audience with his speech as
he brought forward the true inspiring story of W. Mitchell. W. Mitchell is an
American motivational speaker and business who had undergone 2 major surgeries
following 2 terrible accidents: i.e. his motorcycle was hit by a laundry truck and
he crashed on take off in a small aircraft he was piloting. Although he was
sentenced to life in a wheelchair, we never gives up and is determined to live
his life to the fullest. TM Chong Moon highlighted in his speech that W.
Mitchell teaches us to not let the challenges we face stop us from achieving
our goals. Also, he quoted W. Mitchell that "It's
Not What Happens To You, It's What You Do About It".
The next speaker
was TM Sai Blackbyrn who wowed the
audience with his animated-story-telling style on his project Basic Manual #2 entitled “The Creation of Money”. Here, in a
7-minute speech, TM Sai effectively educated the audiences on the origin of
money creation and how it had designed the lending system that is adopted in
today’s banking industry. This system has been followed and adopted unwisely
until the world was hit by the major banking crisis in 2008-2009.
The third
prepared speaker was TM Suryani. She
managed to achieve the objective of Basic Manual #2, i.e. get to the point, by delivering a speech about “Growing
Older”. With her wit and a touch of her personal story, she
successfully turned the topic that is a fear to most of everyone into something
that is worth to talk about. Finally, she wrapped her speech up by emphasizing
that growing older is such a natural process and thus, we just have to enjoy
the process.
Lasty, TM Bena closed the prepared speech
session with her project Basic Manual #5 captioned “To Find Beauty in Ugliness”. In her
speech she invited everyone to find the good lesson from unwanted situations
that we might encounter on daily basis. For example, we have to stand in a
crowded bus for 2 hours, or there are those people who try to violate our
rights, or some people ruin our good expectations on them. By discovering the
good lessons from those ugly situations, we can find the beauty and goodness in
life and hence we enjoy our life better.
The four
prepared speakers were individually evaluated
by TM Robert, ACB/CL Imung, CC Utayanto, and CC Bahtiar respectively.
Furthermore, CC Susanna spiced up the meeting by
conducting the Table Topics Session about
“Time”. The impromptu speakers were ACB/CL Harry, Guest Agus, TM Robert, TM
Pankaj, and Guest Rini.
Eventually, the
Ballot Counter, CC Kardinal, announced TM
Suryani as the best prepared speaker,
CC Pankaj as the best table topic speaker with topic “Time is the longest distance between two places”, and CC Bahtiar as the best evaluator.

The last but not
least was the guests’ comments. The overall feedback was good and some of the
guests said that they wish to come as regular. Well, we hope that means a sign
up as new member? ;)
