"PURIFICATION" - 30 July 2012

30 faces were beaming with excitement throughout the JTC meeting last Monday. Bringing forward the theme “PURIFICATION” (WoD: “mercy”), Toastmaster of the Meeting (ToM), TM Sai Blackbyrn smoothly conducted the meeting. Although this was his debut as a ToM, he managed to run the meeting professionally.
When the meeting started, TM Sai told the audience that the moment he feels most purified is when he shares love and sincerity to strangers. Therefore, he invited all audience to leave their comfortable seats for couple minutes to come to 3 persons they had not met before and to tell jokes to those 3 strangers. The atmosphere was turned into chaotic-fun as everyone tried to approach 3 persons they had never talked to.
Toastmasters and guests were all mingled and merged
The ToM was partnered by the merciful GE team led by the General Evaluator, CC Stephanie Immanuel (especially came from Allianz Toastmasters Club and she is the President!). CC Stephanie was assisted by the Grammarian (ACB/CL Imung Hikmah), the Timer (TM Martha Octavia)the Ballot Counter (TM Ariel Wylie, VPM of Jakarta Motivators Toastmasters Club), and the “Ah”/WoD Counter (CC Susanna Jahja).
Before moving on to the Prepared Speech Session, the audience were spoiled with an Entertainment Session brought by JTC’s very own Joke Master, CC Bahtiar Manurung. Armed up with amusing slides, he carried his session with the theme “Stand Up For Independence- Comedy for Liberty”.
CC Bahtiar and CC Fathia are going to perform their stand up comedy at @America Pacific Place on the Sep 9th 2012. This is going to be the second English Speaking Stand up Comedy in Indonesia. CC Bahtiar was the host for the first event, Stand Up Comedy- Comedy for Diversity. It was also held at @atAmerica in last May 2012
Things that make people laugh are in his fingertips

Moving on to the Prepared Speech Session, TM Yunita Ellyanti delivered her ice-breaker speech, entitled “Yourself” (Basic Manual #1). Through her speech, she shared to the audience how dreams are not made up for nothing. From attending the dreamt schools and university until visiting her dreamt country, i.e. India, TM Yunita proved that dreams are achievable if you really pursue them.
TM Yunita was evaluated by CC Tantia Dian (Jakarta Motivators Toastmasters Club).
The second speaker was TM Nur Agus who also gave his ice-breaker speech entitled “Where to Put Your Heart” (Basic Manual #1). The main idea he was trying to give was that when you decide to put your heart, then everything will follow. With his sense of humour and bringing in some advanced speaking techniques, such as vocal variety and body language, TM Agus made himself the centre of attention. TM Agus clearly decided to put his heart into his speech and every good thing just followed!
TM Agus was evaluated by TM Bena.
The third prepared speech was delivered by ACB/ALB Ignasius Ronny Budihartono who successfully made ladies in the room get all misty-eyed with his speech, “Life with a Woman” (Advanced Manual #2). ACB/ALB Ronny made us understand that those who love us will always believe in us even when we do not believe in ourself. All hail ACB/ALB Ronny!
ACB/ALB Ronny was evaluated by DTM Harlina Indra.
Lastly, TM Muqsith from Jakarta Motivators Toastmasters Club ended the Prepared Speech Session with his Advanced Manual #3. Through his speech, TM Muqsith tried to bring forward a persuasive selling with title “Shocking Proposal”.
TM Muqsith was evaluated by ACG Henrietta A. Kristanto (Etta).

At the end of the meeting, the Ballot Counter, TM Ariel, announced TM Agus as the Best Speaker, Guest Umesh Chopra as the Best Table Topic Speaker, and ACG Etta as the Best Evaluator.
