Minutes of JTC Meeting, 11 August 2008
Hi, people!
Again, I’m here again, recounting our last JTC meeting, on August 11, 2008. The theme was “Guilty Pleasure”. That night, we all had the chance to know guilty pleasures of several members of JTC. Don’t worry guys, I’m not going to spill them out to members who didn’t come. Our Toastmaster of the Meeting was our artistic CC Astuty. At the meeting, she explained her three guilty pleasures.
Our General Evaluator was DTM Nono Sarwono. He was helped by his team which included: TM Fransiska as Grammarian, TM Matthew as Timer, TM Prima as “Ah” & Word of the Day Counter, and TM Katarina as “Ballot Counter”. The word of the day was “Surreptitious”. Our grammarian explained that she chose the word because people tend to fulfill their guilty pleasures surreptitiously. But then again, whatever happened or heard at that meeting was not surreptitious, because there were 34 pairs of ears listening to anything said during the meeting. Among them, 11 pairs belonged to guests.
The table topics session was led by CC Eva, with the help of Evron (guest). A well prepared Table Topic Master she was, she used power point slides to guide the session. She asked the audience to deliver a speech related to most common guilty pleasures. Four people stood up, which were Evron (guest), CC Thomas, TM Yeni, and Roma (guest).
We had five prepared speeches. The first speaker was TM Lukman delivering his BM#1. He related his experiences when he was accused of being involved in a burglary, and explained that it was what triggered him to study law. His evaluator was ACS Wivina. After that, TM Dyah argued that employees should directly come to their boss if they found any problem at work. Her evaluator was DTM Harlina. ACB Jhonson told the legend of Tangkuban Perahu. His evaluator was ATMB/CL Etta. TM Taufan invited the audience to develop new habits using the “21 days” rule. His evaluator was TM Vanessa. The last speaker also delivered BM#1. He was TM Sunardi, explaining his efforts to find ways to enjoy his hobby: sport. His evaluator was ACS/CL Harry.
By the way, maybe it has something to do with the theme. That night, everyone seemed to enjoy talking, so that we witnessed many disqualified speakers for being overtime. And we continued a new tradition, established about a couple of weeks ago: having some people singing when they are on stage. I noted three people sang: TM Matthew, CC Astuty, and ACB Jhonson.
Now, the hall of fame. The best table topic speaker was Guest Evron. The best prepared speaker was TM Tauffan, and the best evaluator was TM Vanessa. The President Award went to TM Dyah and ATMB/CL Etta. As I had mentioned before, there were two Ice Breakers among the prepared speakers: TM Lukman and TM Sunardi. At the beginning of the meeting, we also witnessed the induction of a very lively Toastmaster, TM Prima.
The meeting was closed with the TOM and the President inviting everyone to be more involved in any Toastmasters meeting. Well, I do hope people accept the invitation and come to our next meeting, on August 25.
See you all!
