Minutes of JTC Meeting, 4 August 2008
Hi, everyone!
It was fun coming to our last weekly meeting. With its ever-changing theme and very friendly atmosphere, Toastmasters is really an excellent diversion from our daily lives. Our theme was “Express Yourself”. It was chosen by our Toastmaster of the Meeting, ACS Wivina, because she believes that we should express ourselves the way we want. As an example of self expression, she sang at the beginning of the meeting. She told the attendants that singing is her way to express her feeling. I was certain that she was not the only person who loves singing. When she sang, some of the audience sang along with her. Even some guests! At the meeting, there were 29 people present, including 9 guests and 3 visiting Toastmasters.
Our General Evaluator was ACB/CL Imung. As always, GE never works alone. ACB/CL Imung was helped by TM Katarina as the Grammarian, TM Siska as “Ah” and Word of the Day Counter, CC Alistair as Timer, and TM Ivan as Ballot Counter. Our Grammarian chose “Resonate” as The Word of the Day.
We had a colorful Table Topic Session, thanks to our charming Table Topic Master, TM Vanessa. She explained how color influences all aspect of our lives, including what to buy and what to eat. Since color can resonate with someone’s personality or state of emotion, our TTM decided to ask the audience to deliver a speech which related to a certain color she mentioned beforehand. There were seven speakers during this session: TM Patar (visiting Toastmaster), Gempar (Guest), Dicky (Guest), Krisma (Guest), CC Thomas, CC Astuty, and CC Alistair.
After the Table Topic Session, we moved to Prepared Speech Session. We had three speakers for the meeting. TM Prima Wati, delivering her BM # 1, explained about her three hobbies. She was evaluated by TM Dyah. TM Matthew vividly described how it feels like when you are skydiving. He was evaluated by ATMB Etta. ACB/CL Stephen conducting his Public Relation Manual–Speaking under Fire. His evaluator was ACB Johan.
As for the hall of fame, we had CC Astuty as the best Table Topic Speaker, TM Matthew as the best Prepared Speaker, ACB Johan and ATMB Etta shared the title of Best Evaluator, and DTM Arlan got the Presidential Award. Starting from the last meeting, any new member who has delivered his/her BM # 1 will get a pin. Last night, TM Prima got her pin for delivering her Ice Breaker. So who’s next?
Before the meeting ended, ACB/CL Imung reminded all Toastmasters about the upcoming Bali Convention. If anyone wants to join the convention, feel free to contact her or Etta about it. It is a very good chance to meet more talented Toastmasters and to educate yourself in a different environment.
Well, that was all for now. See you in the next Monday meeting!
