“THE NIGHT OF RESOLUTION”
WoD : Drive
The Night of Resolution was a
merely a night of wishes that all of toastmaster and guest coming with new hope
in this meeting. We could see the spirit of new life from everyone. The Toastmaster
of the meeting (ToM), TM Agus opened with sang a song and asked all the members sang together.
After that ToM asked Guest Laras
to shared her resolution for this year, there were she wanted to develop her
english speaking skill, drove a car, pursued her master degree, and proposed by
her boyfriend.
ToM also invited a member, long
time no see member that was TM Harry Nizam to shared his resoutions. He said
that he wanted to got less fat and more sincere loving his family by giving
more quality time instead of making money. What a lovely resolution!

We also knew that behind the great
ToM always there a Great Team, ToM was featuring with The General Evaluator (CC
Bena), Grammarian (ACS, CL Harry Nizam), Timer (TM Suryani), Ballot Counter (TM
Dina), and “Ah” and WoD Counter (TM Martha).

In the prepared speech session, we
had really good speaker. The 1st speaker was TM Barbara who just complete her
BM #1 entitled “Believe in Yourself”. A topic that really related to her story
life and connected with all the audiens. One of her story life of being believe
in her self was when she failed in national examinations (mathematic subject)
while she was a brilliand student even when she was in 5 years old. But her mom
always courage her to get up and started to believe in her self until she got
the almost perfect score in math and also get to favourite university. TM
Barbara were evaluated by DTM Harlina Indra who really complimented in her
gesture, organize speech and rarely reading notes which is a good job for BM
#1. She also advised her to improve her speaking by eliminate using a note.
The 2nd speaker was TM Vergi who
completed his BM #2 entitled “Go for Extra Mile”. He told us about a child who
really passionate in making his dreams come true although there were lot of
challenges. Although he was thingking that he really stuck in English but in
the other hand he got the part time job helping people learning english. He
also got the 1st rank in his university and this child was no other than TM
Vergi. He believe that the different between extraordinary and ordinary people
was just extra so he put extra efford to get his extra brighter life. TM Vergi
was evaluated by CC Neeraj who appreciated in his confidency, strong opening
and closing statement which is the purpose of this manual. He also suggested TM
Vergi improved his movemenet in stage and also practice more so he could
eliminate using notes.
The 3rd speaker was TM Lubis. This
night was really great night for him because he finally completed his BM #10
entitled “The Light At The End Of The Tunnel”. This story was about his up and
down life. After loose everything in 1986 in his shipping business, TM Lubis
started a betel nut business which was quite success in export trading
industries in Bangladesh and Pakistan. He got the bank loan/credit to develope
his business but suddenly national crisis came in those destination country.
The bank took everything. TM Lubis and his wife strugle really hard to fulfill
daily life and also keep support the education for their child. In this
condition TM Lubis remembered the message from his parent that was “you will
not be burden more than your limit”. Finally TM Lubis could get up from this
situation by started a new business in tuna fisheries with his japanese friend.
TM Lubis said i am 20 years old with 45 years experience but i am still
learning. TM Lubis was evaluated by CC Valeriya who complemented in his ability
to connect the story emotions to the audience, his quotations and his spirit of
life. She also suggested him to be pay more attention in techical matters such
as projector etc.
The 4th speaker was TM Ivan who
represented “Education Session” about “Closing the Sale”. He talked about how
to make a win-win closing startegy to make more and more active member in
Toastmaster from the prospective guest. Our sales was all about the meeting.
Thats why fullfilling the meeting standard was very important such as begin and
end the meeting on time, arrived early and prepared, club officer fulfiled
their responsibilities, meeting proceed at good pace etc. He also shared the
benefits joining Toastmaster : improve speaking abilities, leadership
development and better social skills whis were very important in our lives. And
for the closing the sale, TM Ivan gave us tips
(Compare-Lose-Opinion-Story-Example). TM Ivan was evaluated by ACG Henrietta
who gave closing evaluation session.

The next agenda was Table Topic
Session which lead by ACB, CL Imung Hikmah. She led this session brilliantly.
The 1st table topic speaker was TM Thomas who speech about his resolution in
his life. The session continued with impromtu question from DTM William who let
a controversial topic “The Resolutions are made to be broken” Guest Tom tried
to accepted this challenge by talked his argument that he was agree to this
sentence because time was changing and so do your life was changing. The next
challenges was accepted by Guest Rakesh who speaks about how far will you let
your resolutions go? He answered somehow things happen different with your
expectations and in that condition you might let it go. For example when you
wanted to succed in the office but in the other hand you dont want to sacrifice
your family time. At that time you need to pick a choice. The last speaker was
Guest Abiem who talking about his most memorable success resolution in his life
was pursuing his dream to be a Master of Ceremony.

Dina announced TM Lubis, Guest Abim and CC Neeraj as Best Speaker, Best Table
Topic Speaker and Best Evaluator. Lets celebrate new year as the new beginning
of our life. J
