The Effect of Smoking - 11th December 2017
It had been a rainy day since the afternoon. The water pooled across Rasuna Said street until it almost reached adult’s knee, as seen through an amateur video which was vastly distributed between group-chats. A lot of JTCers were trapped in their office building between the insanely severe traffic jam, worsened by the occasional flood and the fact that the rain has not given any signal to subsided. Yet the show must go on, even that our previously assigned ToM finally declared that she was unable to attend, TM Ramasdin then took over the role with a flawless performance. He brought the meeting with theme : “The effect of smoking”. Smoking as we know, has took part as the deeply intriguing thing in our today’s society. The horrifying facts of its harmful effects seemed to be as equal as the conflicting reality of the tobacco industries to be among the top players in our country’s economic drivers.
As usual, in this meeting, we have two sessions which are Prepared Speech Session and Table Topics Session.
Prepared speech session
Speaker 1:TM Much Rosidi
Path 1.Project 1 The Ice Breaker
Speech title: Dream
TM Imam Rosidi finally attempted his first speech project after years :D !
He told us about one of the biggest evolution in his life, from a mediocre below average student, until he can work in Ministry of Finance, as an awardee. In his opinion, one of the significant life-transforming factor was ‘fear’. He worked and struggled beyond his limit to conquer his fears. Maybe it works for you as well.

Speaker 2:TM.Raissa
BM# 6:Vocal Variety
Speech title: 35000 ft above the ground
Raissa delivered an interesting BM 7 speech about how does it ‘actually’ feels like, of being at 35000 feet above the ground, or around 10 km above the earth. People nowadays has already crawling into a more connected and emerging world. Where every place can be reached within hours. It is through air transportation. However, being on a plane is actually one of the most extreme environment that our body ever exposed to. The low air pressure and dryness has unconsciously made effects to our mortal body to which we might not really feel it. The evidence includes : mild hypoxia, dehydration and numb feeling of our tastebuds. The scientific explanations that she provides totally expand our knowledge about 35.000 feet above the ground.

Speech title: When will I Meet Him?
Kartika Pratiwi finished her BM10 with a compelling speech about her own experience to find the soulmate, in “When will I meet him?”
Though it is depressing in so many ways to find the love of our life for some people, there are some tips to prepare ourselves in meeting him/her, referred as 4 B’s :
1. Be better -> be better in a lot ways
2. Be open -> need to go to meet different people, try blind dates -> being introduced to an acquitances
3. Be attractive -> be tidy, take care of your self well, because pretty face indicates fertility for women based on the research by Univerrsity of Amsterdam
4. Be patient -> ask to God, on every prayer and be patient. Knowing that every human has their own pairings, God will unite us at the right moment.
In conclusions, everyone has our own soulmate even if we don’t know when we will meet them.

Speaker 4: Harmina
BM#5 Your body speaks
Speech title: Reaction
In her BM5 speech, entitled ‘Reaction’, she told us a very meaningful story of her own experience as the Head of her department. Most of her team member were already senior, they don’t want to have a younger boss. They resisted, dont want to follow her lead and it was so hard situation for her. She tried to push her ego and try to build better relationship but they dont want to change their habit. They still told that she is a kid and dont want to be lead by her.
Desperate, she keep on praying : “God thank you for showing me the reality of the working life
it taught me a lot, if that position is the best for me, then change them. If that position is not the best, then move me to another position”.
Finally, TM Harmina was assigned into a different position, and she glad God answered her prayers.
The exquisite moral of the lesson was, whatever our reaction, it is not always do A and then B happened, action then reaction. There must be a time when we must be surrender if things cannot work as we want it to be, and let God gives the best way.
