How Internet Can Change Your Life - 23rd October 2017
Tonight we talked about how internet can change our society and our life in a whole. Back to ten years ago, when internet was not as cheap as it is right now (even free and fast!), our life was different. The social interaction through online world we did at that time was not a significant thing in our daily life. Now we absolutely cannot go too far from our cellphones, wifi connections, laptops, even charger and electricity! We are all confuse and anxious when the electricty went off, don't know what to do, while starting the interaction with other people can be an extremely awkward situation. We need Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, WhatsApp, Path, Line and so on to keep on busy in online world. Is it bad or good?
Our ToM Devi Elvira opened the meeting with a brief discussion about internet in our life. The word-of-the-day is: Social Media. There are Prepared Speech session and Table Topics speech by TM Thomas Alfiandes.

TM Elmira told us through her ice breaker speech about her background. We knew that she is currently a Master degree student at ITB, majoring in Business Management. She is passionated in finance and accounting since she was an undergraduate student. TM Elmira wanted to join Toastmasters because she wanted to get out from her comfort zone, imrpove her writing skill and able to get to know more people.

Our new member from US, TM Gari recounted his most memorable personal development experiences. It was the first time when he drove a car, his first attempt to enjoy the work environment through internships. Those unexpected and unforgettable life events has escalated him to be a better person.

TM Nida brought a speech based on the evaluation of Project 2. She told us her own opinion about a good day is. Eventhough sometimes or most of the times, we encountered unwanted events in our daily life, but all have our own right to choose whether a day maybe considered as a good day or bad day. She reminded us to always see the positive side from the bad things.

AM#1: Specialty speech
Speech title: "Impromptu"
For a very long time we finally enjoy an impromptu specialty speech for Advanced Manual.
Sing and cigarette. TM Qilan randomly picked a speech topic and ended up with this title, then gave a 5-7 minutes speech. What we all saw was very far from the 'impromptu' speech, it is very well prepared and TM Qilan mesmerized us with her extraordinary speech as always.

Table Topics Session
Tonight we have a lot of people doing the table topics session! Most of them are guests. They gave one until 2 minutes of speech based on quotes from the famous people on the IT industry, such as Jack Ma, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, etc.
