Minutes of JTC Meeting, 6 October 2008

Hi, everyone! Selamat Idul Fitri to all of you who celebrate it!

We had a meeting last Monday, 6th of October 2008. Well, I know a lot of you were out of town and therefore you couldn’t come. But we were there, 12 people including 3 guests. And this is what I see after becoming a member for a year: the number of attendance doesn’t correlate with the quality of the meeting. When it’s small, everything is more personal and “family like”. When it’s big, it gets more cheerful and lively.
Well, now let’s talk about the meeting. It started on time. Out VP Membership opened the meeting. After that, our Toastmaster of the Meeting took control. ATM Robert was our TOM. I don’t recall any theme for the meeting, but once in a while we do things differently, isn’t it so? Our General Evaluator was TM Dyah. Other members who filled in the roles for the night were : TM Matthew as Grammarian, TM Ivan as Timer, TM Claudia as Ah and Word of the Day Counter, and TM Cathy as Ballot Counter. The word of the day was “flabbergasted”.
The only prepared speech was delivered by TM Matthew. He related his “misadventure” of having a cruise trip cancelled and getting a flight to Fiji booked shortly after. His evaluator was ACB Jhonson. Next, ACB/CL Stephen delivered his educational session, as he talked about motivation.
Table Topics Session came after that, hosted by our Table Topic Master CC Alistair. He asked people to choose a coin and explained what they remember related to the date written on the coin. Five people showed up: TM Cathy, Guest Stefan, Guest Harry, TM Claudia, and Guest Fitri.
An additional session was introduced by or TOM, where we had to make a chain of story. We were to add one narrative to another, with one condition: to use the last word of your previous speaker as your first spoken word.
For the hall of fame, we had an uncontested best prepared speaker (TM Matthew) and best evaluator (ACB Jhonson). Best table topic speaker was Guest Fitri. The president’s award went to ATM Robert.
Well, that’s all for now. Have safe trip for those of you who are preparing to return to Jakarta! The next meeting will be on 13th of October, and it will start at 18:30 for dinner. See you there!
