Minutes of Meeting, December 01, 2008

Hi everyone!

We’re getting closer to the end of 2008. It’s December already! Our last meeting was an extraordinary one, because it was a purposely impromptu one. The theme was “Everyday Creativity”. There were ten people coming to the meeting, but it was even more than enough for a creative meeting.

Our Toastmaster of the Meeting was none other than our Vice President Education, CTM/CL Imung. She started the meeting with explaining how we can be creative everyday. After that, between each session, she asked us about small things in our life that can lead us to creativity, including finding an insight for a speech!

Our General Evaluator was CC Alistair, which is our club’s President. He was helped by a spontaneously appointed team (including himself, that is). Our Grammarian was ACS/ALB Wivina. She explained the word of the day, “Innovate”. Our Timer was TM Ivan. Our Ballot Counter was TM Men Jung. Our Ah/WoD Counter was TM Dyah.

We had two prepared speakers. The first one was TM Yuli, who gave a detailed cost analysis of using public transportation compared to private cars. She was evaluated by DTM Harlina. The second speaker was TM Dyah, who talked about time spent with one’s family. She was evaluated by ATM Robert.

The table topics session came after that. The Table Topics Master was ACB/ALB Johan. His questions were all related to innovation that we do everyday. But he add some rules regarding table topics speech : the speaker had to use the word “innovate”, s/he also had to point her/his finger to make a point, and the audience decided beforehand whether s/he had to use a clear body language or no body language at all. Five people came up : ATM Robert, CTM/CL Imung, CC Alistair, TM Ivan, and TM Men Jung.

After the general evaluation session, our TOM presented a short movie about everyday creativity. It tells about how to be creative by using different perspectives when looking at things, everyday. The movie was an inspiring one.

For the hall of fame, the best prepared speaker was TM Dyah, the best evaluator was ATM Robert, and the best table topics speaker was CC Alistair. The president’s award went to TM Ivan. At the meeting, TM Dyah has finished her BM#10, and therefore she is now entitled for a title of CC.

Our club’s president closed the meeting by quoting from Eleanor Roosevelt, “One’s philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices we makes. In the long run, we shape our lives and we shape our lives and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And, the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.

We’re going to have another JTC’s meeting on the 15th of December. Monday next week will be a national holiday, as it is a celebration of Idul Adha. So, see you all again in two weeks!
