MoM December 15, 2008

Hello everyone!

Anyone who didn’t come to our meeting last Monday missed JTC’s last meeting in 2008. We didn’t just gather to throw a speech, but we also had birthday celebration and fund awards. There’s another thing I should add. After a few weeks, we finally had quite a number coming to our meeting : 23 people, including 6 guests.

The theme was “End of the Year Party”. Yes, it’s not even close to the last week of 2008, but it was the last JTC’s meeting this year. Our Toastmasters of the Meeting were (yes, there were two) CTM/CL Imung and TM Siska. It’s the collaboration of two women who have out-of-the-box thinking and they are always ready for the extraordinary.

The evaluation team was an impromptu team, with ACB/ALB Johan as the General Evaluator. He was helped by CC Dyah as the Grammarian, ACS/ALB Wivina as the timer, TM Ami as the Ballot Counter, and TM Ivan as the Ah/Word of the Day Counter. The word of the day was “zesty”.

We had five prepared speakers. TM Ami related her experience when she felt so down and went to Bali for refreshing. She was evaluated by TM Matthew. TM Laura presented her BM#1 which was about her outdoor activity. She was evaluated by ACB/ALB Johan. ACB/CL Stephen presented his AM#3 from Public Relations Manual titled “Toastmasters for Your Company”. His evaluator was DTM Harlina. CC Vanessa delivered her first AM project titled “The Dream Team is in Your Hand”. She was evaluated by CC Alistair. TM Menjung talked about entrepreneurship and evaluated by ACB Jhonson.

Our Table Topics Master was ATM Robert. As always he started his session with jokes. The topics were all quotes that he showed on slides. We were invited to pick a number, and then the TTM would present the slide in accord with that number. The slide had a quote in it, and the speaker should present a speech based on the quote. Five people came up: TM Matthew who talked about facing resistance; Guest Florence who reminded the audience not to be easily satisfied with their lives; ACB/CL Stephen who told a story of an eagle which was raised among chicken; CC Alistair who explained that even to be lucky, you still need practice; and Guest Windy who talked about how she achieved her dream.

The best prepared speaker was CC Vanessa. The best Table Topics Speaker was Guest Windy. The best Evaluator was ACB/ALB Johan. The President’s award goes to TM Ami.

For it was the last meeting in 2008, our TOMs also presented 2008 fun awards. Here’s the list: ACB/ALB Johan got the “Nothing Else to Do on Mondays” award; CC Dyah got the “Best Author” award; ACB/CL Stephen got the “Catch Me If You Can” award; ACS/ALB Wivina got the “Forever Honored Guest” award; CC Vanessa got the “Buterfly Award”; CC Alistair got the “King of Quotes” award; and ATM Robert got the “Grow Younger with Toastmasters” award. You can guess yourself the meaning of each award.

We also celebrated birthdays in November and December, but only one birthday-person that turned up: TM Ivan.

Well, that’s all for 2008. We’ll see you again on the 5th of January 2009!

Dyah Yasmina
Club Secretary
