Minutes of Meeting, 23 February 2009
Hi again, everybody!
We had a very interesting meeting last Monday. The theme was chosen out of a sense of urgency, yet the result was a meeting with amusing sessions! Our Toastmaster of the Meeting was none other than our Club’s President: CC Alistair! He picked “Help!!” as a theme because he believes that nobody can do everything by himself and in the end everyone has to prepare to say that they need help. He printed The Beatles’ song titled “Help” on the back of our agenda because the text shows how we all need help.
The General Evaluator was ACS/ALB Vina. She as helped by TM Yuli as Grammarian, Guest Fathia as Timer, CC Mathew as Ballot Counter, and CC Thomas as Ah & Word of the Day Counter. The word of the day was “Opportunity”.
The Prepared Speeches Session was conducted before the Table Topics Session. We had three speakers in this session. Visiting Toastmaster Lola presented her BM # 5 and explained how mobile phone is the biggest source of distraction in today’s life. She was evaluated by DTM Harlina. TM Ivan came back after disappearing and delivered his BM # 7 titled ”Holistic Health to Prevent and Cure (Heart) Disease”. He was evaluated by CC Matthew. CC Dyah delivered her AM # 1 The Entertaining Speaker and told anecdotes related to her hobby, drawing sketches. She also showed some of her sketches. She was evaluated by ATM Robert.
The Table Topics Session was lead by out TOM. He posed four questions and invited people to answer them with a speech. All questions were about help: the result of doing help or something may help us in a certain way. Four people came forward : TM Yuli, TM Sunardi, CC Thomas, and Guest Reancy.
After that came an additional session : DTM Harlina lead a singing session! We all stood up and sang The Beatles’ song “Help”. You don’t get that singing session very often, do you?
Now the hall of fame. The best Table Topics Speaker was Tm Yuli. The best Prepared Speaker was CC Dyah. The best evaluator was CC Mathew. The president’s award went to Guest Fathia.
Before the meeting ended, CC Matthew as the chairman for the Club’s Contest next week announced the event and asked for volunteers and participants. So, next week we’re going to have an international speech contest and table topics contest. Please come and give your support. The contest will start at 19:00, but due to all the preparation, members are expected to come earlier than 18:30 so that the contest can start on time.
