Prepared Speech Session

1. Basic Manual # 2: Organize your speech

Speaker: TM Devyana Fajriani

Speech Title: "Stay Active and Fit”

TM Devy reminds us that sitting for long hours will bring hip pain, body posture change, and even scoliosis, a bone condition where the spine is not straight. She reminded us that this is caused by sitting without any breaks. To fix this, the audience can do stretchings or yoga, but also something simpler like taking  a short walk every 40 minutes. She concluded with reminding us to fix your sitting posture, be alert of when your body needs treatment, and to get a healthier life now.

2. Basic Manual # 5: Your Body Speaks

Speaker: TM Derip Pratomo

Speech Title: "The Power of Dream”

TM Derip has a dream to improve his English and communication skills, be a great public speaker and be an inspiring leader. He was undermined by the people in his surrounding, but he realizes that if he’s mindful of that, he won’t achieve anything. He aims to challenge himself to have his name written in history. He concluded by reminding us to not let fear control ourselves, but to control fears and be the best of ourselves.

3. Advanced Manual # 2: Speaking to Inform

Speaker: Fia Mahanani, CC

Speech Title: "Green Happiness”

TM Fia opened her speech questioning what makes people happy, the relative definition of happy, and what it means to be “green”. She introduced Happy Planet Index. The Index showed that happiness is correlated to well being, longevity and equality, while being inversely related to ecological footprint. She concluded saying that to be happy we must think sustainability.

4. Advanced Manual # 2: Appraise with Praise

Speaker: Richie Jimmy Walia, ACS, ALB

Speech Title: "Motivation Based FeedBack”

TM Richie introduced Motivation Based Feedback. He had TM Derip come up as a ‘guest’ to the speech and had TM Derip ask questions to himself on his earlier speech. TM Richie reminded that new members should make a plan, set a goal, execute goals step by step, achieve it within the targetted done and reflect back. He also reminded that to evaluate our own speech, we should as our evaluators and mentors on what we can improve more on and ask ourselves whether we have passed our personal benchmarks. TM Richie concluded that through the use of right feedback and motivating words, the audience can motivate and empower others to move beyond.

Special Announcements

Vice President of Education, TM Maria Yulianti Sinaga would like to remind the members to set goals and communicate them. A goal should be SMART: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely (short term and long term). The recent member interest survey concluded that most members want to be more confident when speaking in front people, to reduce nervous level, and to be able to deliver a speech to inspire people. There are many members aiming to complete CC. TM Maria also encourages the members to complete the CL as well. The interest indicator shows that members are most interested in getting CC, improving management skills,  and improving listening skills.

We would like to thank all the members and guests who have come. We would also like to give special appreciation and gratitude to the TOM And GE, who have successfully prepare the meeting and assign meeting roles to members and also to all the speakers and role takers for helping to run the meeting smoothly.
