JTC Minutes of Meeting - 16 October 2006
Attendees: 13 consisting of 10 JTC members, 2 guests and 1 visiting Toastmaster ( Kebayoran)
Theme of the meeting: Homeward Bound (Going home)
Word of the Day: Creative
Horrendous traffic jams could not keep us from having a educational and fruitful Toastmasters meeting, even though many role players were caught up in traffic and the meeting had a recess for 30 minutes…
In addition , some of us had double or even quadruple jobs so don’t be surprised to read some names more than once…
Last night’s meeting produced our second Competent Communicator (CC) of the term 2006-2007 :
hip hip hurray for our JTC - VP Membership CC Alistair !!
Who’s next ?
JTC President Harry Nizam opened the meeting and introduced the Toastmaster of the Meeting – TM Thomas (again ! )… TM Thomas led us swiftly and confidently through the meeting.The General Evaluator was our idol , DTM Nono Sarwono whose evaluation was short and sharp.
His GE Team consisted of Yours Truly as Grammarian, TM Naufal as Timer, TM Utami as Ballot Counter and TM Linda Harsini as Ah/WOD Counter.
Table Topics Session: Yours Truly threw 4 questions at the JTC audience and this is the result !
· CTM Harry motivated his wife to hang on in a 5 hours traffic jam by playing her favourite CD’s and making her sing .
· TM Linda persuaded her servant to stay for Lebaran by tripling her bonus and giving full use of all house facilities.
· TM Utami inspired us by saying it is a waste of energy if we do not forgive the people who hurt us.
· Guest Vincenza informed her parents in her hometown of the honest , healthy and well educated love of her life that she found in Jakarta
Prepared Speech Session:
BM # 6 (Vocal variety) : A good night sleep : TM Naufal gave a lot of useful tips how to get a good quality sleep sleep
AM # 4 ( Speaking under fire – Public Relations) : Death sentence for drug dealers : CTM Harry defended well his viewpoint in a short speech and Q & A session
BM # 10 ( Inspire the audience ) : Give her a chance : TM “Mc “ Alistair inspired us to fight poverty in Indonesia with micro-financing , copying the style of Mohammad Yunus ( Noble Prize Winner for Peace 2006) .
Evaluation Session: A guest said that the feedback at JTC is more honest and educational compared to other clubs. Maybe that is because of the following evaluators: DTM Nono who evaluated CTM Harry Yours truly who evaluated TM Naufal and TM Alistair….
Business session:
CTM Harry announced that our beloved JTC will go on holiday for 3 weeks and will meet again on 6 th November 2006 !!!
Yours Truly mentioned that ALL of you JTC-ers are cordially invited to the open house of our Area I -1 Governor, DTM Wardiman on the first day of Lebaran (or as we say in Indonesian “hari – H” ) which is on 24 October 2006, starting from 11.00 till 17.00 hours. Venue : Gudang Peluru A 24 (= EXTENSION OF JALAN CASABLANCA), which is in Tebet.
If you come from Jalan HR Rasuna Said and you go on “Jalan Casablanca heading for Kampung Melayu (heading east), you make the U-turn under the Kampung Melayu flyover, to go back in the direction of Jalan HR Rasuna Said. However, keep driving on the most left lane, and do not go up on the Tebet flyover (that goes over the railway). The venue is your left hand side, still on the main road ( so do NOT turn left into a side road)…
If you see the BCA-bank office on your LEFT hand side, then you have already gone too far !! ouch !
