Minutes of JTC Meeting: 22 January 2007
Attendees : 22 (12 male, 10 female)
A special award and a special session gave an extra flavour to this JTC meeting !
Theme of the meeting : Shall we dance ?
Word of the day (Wod) : DEXTERITY (=skill and grace in physical movement,especially in the hands)
Horrendous traffic jams did not keep the Toastmaster of the Meeting (TOM) to start the meeting on time.
In order to do that, the TOM , CTM Jhonson had to park the car somewhere in Menteng and hopped on a motorcycle taxi (ojek) to go to JTC !
To the TOM, dancing is one way to relax after a hard day’s work, and immediately put theory into practice by waltzing with the General Evaluator (GE) on the melody of Edelweis !
Well warmed up, the GE, Yours Truly, introduced her team, who stood very well by her during the whole meeting :
CC Astuty as grammarian, TM Charles as timer, TM Eva as impromptu Ah and WOD counter and DTM Nono Sarwono as impromptu ballot counter. Individual evaluators : CTM/CL Imung (BM # 6), CC Alistair (BM # 3) and ATMB/CL Becca (AM # 2).
Prepared speech session
TM Edwin in his BM # 6, (vocal variety), “the sales samurai “, talked about how sales people can learn from the skills and attitude of samurai’s.
TM Kim in her BM # 3, (get to the point),” Poison in our heart”, said how good deeds can chase away bad thoughts in your heart.
ACB Vina in her AM # 2 , know your audience – Speaking to inform , “ how to take care of your husband properly”,
reminded ladies to stop nagging…
Table Topics session
First timer TM Aulia was very creative in stimulating our imagination by using pictures.
- CC Alistair had to pretend that he is the president of Indonesia and had to comment on a picture where schoolchildren were wearing masks that covered their nose and mouth.
- TM Eva as the minister of tourism had to comment on a picture of a stone jumper from Nias
- A Guest had to comment on a wonderful American mountainous view from the perspective of a park ranger.
Special session : waltz
TOM and GE made the JTC audience stand on their feet and gave them a taste of the delights of the waltz.
Some of the JTC members continued to dance after the meeting ! Guilty as charged !
Special Award for ATM Prijohandojo Kristanto
JTC President CTM/CL Harry and Immediate Past President ATMB/CL Becca expressed their deepest gratitude to ATM Prijohandojo for allowing Jakarta Toastmasters Club to hold their meetings on the office premises of PB & CO .
for the past 5 years and presented a special award for ATM Prijohandojo’s valuable support to Jakarta Toastmasters Club.
