JTC Minutes of Meeting - 8 January 2007
Attendees: 20 (JTC 17, guest 1,Toastmaster guests: 2 Kebayoran & Motivators)
Theme of the meeting ; Reach your Goal
Word of the day (Wod) : PASSION
The first JTC –meeting of 2007 was passionately led by a Toastmaster of the Meeting, imported from Kebayoran club, Advanced Communicator Bronze Wivina ! She reminded us to have goals in our life !
General Evaluator DTM Nono Sarwono did a thorough job, assisted by a whole team on full alert:
Grammarian CTM/CL Harry, Timer TM Edwin, Ballot Counter TM Aulia and Ah and Wod Counter TM Ayu.
And individual evaluators ATMB Sitepu (BM # 9), DTM Harlina (AM # 3) and ATM Robert (AM # 2).
The Table Topic Session was led by a very creative CC Alistair who gave a taste of the upcoming table topic contest of 29 jan 07:
he asked the same question to all speakers but with a twist…
Every speaker got a different prop and the question was : how can that prop help the speaker to reach his /her goal ?
- A Rp 5,000.- bill that could increase TM Charles’ selling target
- Water that could improve TM Kim’s health
- The Toastmaster Magazine that helps developing TM Ami’s communication skills
- A pen that encourages ATM Robert to write motivating sentences for others
- A rose that will help TM Selly to find her soulmate
Prepared speech session :
TM Naufal, in his BM # 9 (persuade with power), “Indonesian competitiveness” said that in some countries abroad, people try to collaborate while in Indonesia, people try to eliminate .
DTM Wardiman in his AM# 3 - the roast - from the “special occasions” advanced manual , “Goodbye Mr Nono”, poked gently fun at “Vice President Mr Nono” from a multinational , who moved to the Netherlands…and who is scared of flying ???
CTM Jhonson, in his AM # 2 - the cold call - from the “persuasive speaking” advanced manual, “ Bigger bank for the buck ” tried to convince the potential buyer ATMB/CL Intan to buy his tanks and drums for storage of fluids…
VP Membership CC Alistair reminded us that the JTC international speech and table topics club contest will be held at 29 January 2007 , at PB & Co, Menara Imperium, 29th floor !!! And asked all of us help to set up this wonderful and enlightening event , whether it is as contestant or as contest official !
Hall of Fame : was entirely male…
