Welcome 2007 !
Dear JTC-ers,
Happy New Year, may 2007 brings Joy & Success to each & every one of you.
In spite of the feelings of joy that every change of year brought, we started 2007 with so many sadness caused by so many disasters that happened around us not long before and after 1 January 2007:
1) Missing of around 102 passengers of Adam Air, on 1 January 2007
2) Capsized of ferry (Kalimantan-Central Java), 400 passengers still missing
3) Wide spread flood in Aceh & parts of North Sumatera
4) Never ending Hot Mud Flow in Sidoardjo
5) Earthquakes in Jogja and Pangadaran
Although we cannot prevent natural disasters, but, we can minimize the casualties. For example, if serious attention has been paid to the warnings by weather authority (BMG), transporation accidents could be minimized. Or, if illegal cutting of forest trees has not been done in the past, the flood would not have been so devastating. Also, if standard procedure for pumping gas from the ground has been followed, the Hot Mud Flow would not exist.
As Toastmasters, we have learned Communication & Leadership skills which enable us to respect, give support & constructive feedback, and use persuassive approach when we interact with each other. As a consequence, we should always obey Laws, Rules, Regulations and traditions.
If more people implement these skills, casualties of accidents caused by
disasters could be minimized.
Therefore, let us sharpen our Toastmastering skills by actively participating
in our Club's activities, such as preparing, practising and delivering manual speeches.
Toastmasters: Simply Amazing!
