Minutes of Meeting - 12 January 2009

Hi everyone!

It rained heavily last Monday, but it didn’t stop people from coming to our weekly meeting! We had 20 people came, including 8 guests.

The theme of the meeting was “The Beginning of a Journey”, chosen because after making commitments (in the previous meeting) and plans one would start a new journey carrying those commitments. The Toastmaster of the Meeting was CC Thomas.

The General Evaluator was CC Astuty. She was helped by CC Dyah as Grammarian, Guest Asri as Timer, TM Yuli as Ballot Counter, and TM Ida as Ah & Word of the Day Counter. The word of the day was “gleam”.

Our Table Topic Session was lead by ATMB/CL Henrietta. This session really warmed up the meeting. She encouraged the audience to be creative by using slides containing pictures. At this session, she would ask volunteer to pick a number. And then, she presented a slide, which was numbered as asked. Unlike most of our slide shows during table topic session, the slides we saw in this particular meeting contained no word! The speaker had to create a speech based on the picture … which could mean anything! We had seven people showed up :ACB/CL Harry, Guest Robby, TM Yuli, Guest Paul, Guest Santi, Guest Agung, and CC Alistair.

We had only one prepared speaker. It was TM Matthew who related the story of why he became a vegetarian. He was evaluated by ATM Robert. But before that, we had a chance to hear a speech of TM Roger who was the first Runner-Up in the last District’s Humorous Speech Contest in Bali. His speech was about how he became a “local” in Malaysia.

For the hall of fame, the best speaker was TM Matthew, the best evaluator was ATM Robert, the best Table Topics Speaker was Guest Paul, and the President’s award went to CC Astuty.
