Minutes of Meeting: 19 January 2009
Hi again, everyone!
Did you attend our last meeting? The theme was “Change” and indeed, that meeting introduced a lot of changes: it had sessions different from your ordinary meetings. The Toastmaster of the Meeting was TM Matthew. At the beginning of the meeting, he explained how people should dare to change because that’s what brings betterment in life. In this meeting, he also brought new sessions in the program, and he hoped that they could be available in future meetings.
Our General Evaluator was TM Yuli. She was helped by TM Men Jung as Grammarian, ACB Jhonson as Timer, TM Siska as Ballot Counter, and CC Dyah as “Ah” & Word of the Day Counter. By the way, it was TM Yuli’s first time becoming a GE and TM Men Jung’s first time becoming a Grammarian. Good job, guys! The word of the day was “flux”.
It was proposed that the first session should be “Jokers Wild” where people stand up and give jokes. But it was a cloudy evening and people were too gloomy to offer jokes, so we skipped it.
“In My Opinion” session was introduced afterward. This is a space given so that people can talk about anything s/he is passionate about, without being restrained to certain parameters of evaluation. The speaker in this session was TM Prima who talked about girls’ talk in her dormitory.
Table Topics Session was lead by TM Yeni. She gave questions or read quotes and asked volunteers to respond it them in a speech. Five people showed up: Guest Teddy who talked about changes in general, DTM Harlina who related a story of a woman who dared to move away from a destructive relationship, Guest Fathia who spoke about a change in working place, TM Prima who wanted to change the ending of Twilight the movie, and Guest (who later on became a member) Rony who explained about accepting changes. The table topics speakers were all evaluated. Two evaluators took turns in delivering their evaluations: ATMB/CL Etta and CC Alistair.
There were two prepared speakers. CC Thomas delivered AM#2 Persuasive Speaking, titled “Conquer the Interview”. He was evaluated by DTM Harlina. CTM/CL Imung delivered AM#4 Story Telling, Touching Story, titled “Life”. She was evaluated by ATMB/CL Etta.
For the hall of fame : The Best Table Topics Speaker was Guest Fathiah, The Best Prepared Speaker was CTM/CL Imung, and The Best Evaluator was ATMB/CL Etta.
We had 17 people coming, including 3 guests. We also celebrated a birthday, with a cake too! It was CC Alistair! Overall, it was a wonderful meeting. You should’ve been there, really. But if you weren’t, it’s alright! We’re still going to have our weekly meetings every Monday, and the next meeting will be on February 2nd. See you there!
