JTC International Speech & Table Topics Contests - 02/03/08
Hi everyone,
This Minutes of Meeting is a special one, because it was written by the Toastmaster of the Contest Matthew Price. Please read and enjoy! :)
=========================================
All
As many of you know by now, we had Toastmasters International Speech and Table topics contests. There were 26 people that came along and experienced the evening - which included 5 guests (Quarina, Rambu, Marshall, Peggy, Roma) and 3 visiting toastmasters (Wivina, Lola, Khrisma).
There were 8 competitors in the contests - 2 in the International speech and 6 in the Table Topics contest. The Contest Chair & Toastmaster of Contest was Matthew, and the Chief Judge was our long term guest (TM Wivina).
So - what did some of the contestants think of their experience? Some were overheard to say:
1) The more contestants participate, the more fun the contest is! Since I
participated in both, I got more of an adrenaline rush in the Table Topics
contest since 6 people participated.
2) Regardless how much time & effort I put into preparing, I always end up wishing
my speech could be better.
3) Going to a competition is a little different from delivering a speech in a usual
setting, it was a good experience.
4) Even just coming to a contest can help us learn, because we can see good speakers
and steal some of their skills.
I'm pleased to announce the following winners of the contests (where the top 2 in each will go through to our area contest shortly)
International speech: Vanessa Hendriadi(1) Dyah Yasmina(2)
Left-Right : Matthew;Vanessa;Dyah;Wivina
Table Topics speech: Vanessa Hendriadi(1) Jhonson Sahlan(2), Robert Purnama(3)
Left-Right : Matthew;Robert;Dyah;Vanessa;Jhonson;Wivina

There were also people who helped running the contests, and they were : TM Yuli and Guest Roma as Timers, TM Prima and Guest Lola as Tally Counters, and, TM Siska and TM Men Jung as Sergeants at Arms. There were also judges whose names remain anonymous.
Congratulations and thank you to all who made the contest happen. See you all in two weeks (holiday next week) and please bring the [Rp] for your Toastmasters fees.
