"THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY" - 10 September 2012

Yesterday, Toastmasters of the Meeting (ToM), ACG/CL Robert Purnomobagyo led the audience to face the fear within them and beat it up by simply promoting the word of the day “act”!

ToM was supported by the fearless General Evaluator Team consisting of TM Bena as the GE, CC Neeraj Khiani as the Grammarian and “Ah” and WoD Counter, TM Suryani as the Ballot Counter, and TM Arief Rasyad (from Sandoz Toastmasters Club) as the Timer.

Moving on to the prepared speech session, TM Syariful Lubis delivered his speech entitled “To Make Life Worth Living” (Basic Manual #4). Through his speech, TM Lubis advocated 4 great words, i.e. learn, try, stay, and care in order for us to make the most of our life. He also stressed that failure is not the opposite of success. Failure is part of success. Well noted, Sir!  

TM Lubis was evaluated by TM George Arif who suggested him to volume up his voice in delivering his speech so that it could grab audience’s attention even more.

The second and last prepared speaker was TM Nur Agus Suryoko. Bringing forward a speech entitled “The Moral of the Story” (Basic Manual #4), he made use of a tale of a master and his servant in journey of finding treasure. In his speech, TM Agus depicted that the servant eventually shot his master to death as he learned that his master showed greediness of which the servant believed that the greediness could bring damage to other humans. By listening to his speech, it was interesting to realise how sometimes or perhaps many times, we strive to stop someone from doing sometime damaging and yet we stop it in awful ways. 

TM Agus was evaluated by CC/CL Kardinal who suggested him to keep the eye contact to the audience while also complimented him on his story-telling style.

The next session was the educational session by CC Dinesh Vaswani. He wowed the audience by sharing his experience as the only semi-finalist from Indonesia in the 2012 International Speech Contest recently held in Orlando.

The last but not least session was Table Topics which was creatively directed by ACB/CL Imung Hikmah. The session brought as many as 7 impromptu speakers to the stage!

Finally, the Ballot Counter announced that TM Arif and Guest Nick respectively won the Best Evaluator and Best Table Topic Speaker award.

Club President, ACB/CL Imung Hikmah adjourned the meeting by reminding the audience of the New Members Induction that will be held on next week 17 September 2012.

ps: 27 people attended the meeting consisted of 4 visiting toastmasters, 10 members, and 13 guests.
