Minutes of JTC Meeting, 14 July 2008

Hi, guys!

You still remember that we have weekly meeting every Monday, right? Last Monday, July 14, 2008, we had a very enjoyable meeting, led by our first-timer TOM, TM Matthew. The theme was “Living in the Moment”. During the meeting, Matthew invited us, the attendants, to be more present and enjoy the present. At that moment, we had 28 attendants, including 6 guests and 3 visiting Toastmasters. The new Division I Governor was one of the visitors.

The meeting started on time. As usual, the President opened the meeting, introduced our guests, and then introduced the TOM. Matthew the TOM did his role very well. In fact, he had good bridging between sessions by giving anecdotes related to the upcoming session. Our GE was our fine-mannered DTM Harlina. She was helped by her team which included the Grammarian (TM Dyah), the Timer (TM Yuli), the Ballot Counter (TM Thomas), and the Ah and WOD Counter (ACS Wivina).
Our ever-creative fellow, TM Sisca, was our Table Topic Master, well, Table Topic Mistress. As always, she had tricks that made us really live in the moment. She made us have fun by making origami, while at the same time invited us to think of how much time we really spend for ourselves, each day. She only asked one question, which is about everyone’s personal plan for the night. Five speakers came up, and the answers were quite diverse: from having more time to sleep to pondering over one’s own existence.

We had four prepared speeches. CC Alistair explained about an organization that helps microfinance organizations to find funding sources. He was evaluated by ACB Jhonson. TM Mikail gave an elaborate biological proof of why people are supposed to be vegetarians. He was evaluated by ACB Johan. TM Vanessa described her experience of eating fresh, uncooked food for about a month in Bali. She was evaluated by ACB Stephen. ACB Etta presented her knowledge on tax by explaining about the sunset policy. She was evaluated by ATM Robert. The master of jokes himself, ATM Robert took time just before his evaluation speech to deliver a joke.
The best speaker for the table topic session was TM Tauffan. We had a tie for the best prepared speech category, split between ACB Etta and TM Vanessa. The best evaluator was ACB Johan.

At the end of the meeting, the TOM gave the control back to the President, who invited comments from guests and gave the President’s award to ACB Stephen. And then ACB Johan, acting as VPE, set the next meeting.
Well, that was all. Be sure to come to the next meeting! We may have another pleasant meeting waiting for us all. See you there!
