Toastmasters Leadership Institute 12 July 1008
Dear Area Governors and Club Officers,
We, Division J and I Governors, would like to welcome you all to this new term – 2008/2009.
We believe that there are a lot of things to be learnt together since we are still “new and learning” leaders. We become leaders not because of our superiority but because the members believe that we have something that will make us good leaders and we can do something for them with it. We might be thinking: Can we get through this term without failing the members believe? The answer is always “YES, we can”. If we doubt our capability as leaders, it’s because we don’t know YET how to be a good leader, not because we are not capable or because things are impossible. We are “new and learning” leaders, remember? We haven’t tried and experienced what leaders should have experienced. Many of us even don’t have the knowledge needed to start and get through this term the right way. How can we be convinced that we are able to lead others if we, ourselves, don’t know which way to take or how to walk the way, right?
TLI (Toastmasters Leadership Institute) can be one of the answers for us in digging as much knowledge as possible and become the true leaders, as we and the members have been expecting. It can be the starting point for us to get through this term the right way. It can be the first thing to do to show that they have done the right thing by believing in us. Show them that you can be somebody and do something, more than words, for them in this new term. Let’s not limit ourselves with “not capable” excuses and settle for less. Let’s be more than what we are right now. Let’s become leaders in this term together :D
The TLI will be held in Lippo Karawaci, a nice quite place and not far from Jakarta . A traffic-jam-free toll makes the access easy and fast. The learning will take place in the best private university in Indonesia , called Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH). Its fully-equipped and international level facilities will give you a brand-new learning experience. It is a perfect place to get our first knowledge and become true leaders.
