2017 TALL TALES SPEECH AND EVALUATION CONTEST

Hey JTCers!

After having fun with the previous week's Humorous Speech Contest, we were delighted with Tall Tales Speech and Evaluation contest!

Because there were two contests at once, we have 14 contestants! Fiuh, a lot of people competing to be the top three! TM Savitri as the Contest Master, welcomed all attendees and opened the occasion. Then the Contest Chair, TM Herman Santoso declared the starting of the contest.

The first contest is Tall Tales. What is it all about? This type of speech challenges us to enhance our ability to develop a good delivery of a detailed story. It is more like a 'story-telling', but in Toastmasters, it is not just an ordinary 'story-telling'. There has to be a 'point', or 'message' from your story.  The given time for each contestant is only 3-5 minutes, plus or minus 30 seconds. So they must be really careful in putting their speech draft in most important points, as well as building an exaggerating story. It can be about anything, there is no limitation about the topic, however, the selected story must be original.

All of them are superb in delivering their story in their most compelling way. But sadly, there only three whose will get the winner trophy.

Moving on to the next session.

In the Evaluation Contest, the contestants will evaluate one 'Mystery Speaker' after she or he delivered the speech. This contest aims to improve our ability and quality in evaluating speeches and also the speaker, not only in the regular meeting but also in other similar occasion. Evaluation is a very critical part to improve speaker's speech. Therefore, it must be delivered in the best manner.
