Public Speaking 'SPEAKATHON' - 28th August 2017

We're back on another amazing meeting!

Yeah, it was a very tiring night because we had a SPEAKATHON for the month! We had 9 speakers, two of them delivered AM projects, imagine the hype for all the prepared speech speakers and attendees in cracking the night!



The meeting was conducted by ToM, TM Abdul Manap Pulungan with 'Public Speaking' theme. The word of the day was ĂŠlocution, which means : the art of careful public speaking, using clear pronunciation and good breathing to control the voice. It was too representing the meeting.

Speaker 1
Another pathway fighters! TM Devi Elvira presented Pathways#1 : Ice Breaker, with speech title :My journey of studying English. She came from Rumbai, Riau. The first time she studied English formaly was when she still in Junior Highschool. Her attempt in mastering English was affected by her close friends' suggestion, to whom she learned that some of them put her in the wrong way, which in contrary, supposed to make her to be a better person.

Speaker 2
TM Johan Kindiachi also cracked up the night with his first Pathways#1 : Ice Breaker project. His speech is about 'Regret' that he felt for not enrolling Jakarta Toastmasters Club in the previous 2 years, at the time while his office wass located just several floor away at the same building with JTC meeting venue.

Speaker 3
TM Harmina Montang presented  BM#3 : Get to The Point project, with speech title :  Words kill,words give life. She reminded us that sometimes our reaction to some people can be a cruel thing for them. Such as unconsciously smirking at someone because of their appearance, which TM Harmina knows really well. She suggested how we can express what we feel with other person without offending them, at least not too much. We can express it in a polite way, or reflected it on us such as questioning ourselves, what would we feel if somebody did it to us? Great speech!

Speaker 4
TM Gusti Oshira Noor killed the night with her extraordinarily entertaining and emotional speech about her father in BM #4 : How to Say It project. Her speech title : Bijabi, was very unexpected thing that only her father has. She also reminded us to be always there whenever our parents need us, and time that we have to be spent with our parents are very valuable.

Speaker 5
TM Raissa Devyna shows us how to solve our Pimple Problem based on her experience in BM#5 : Your Body Speaks project. She brought us to to feel the annoyance to have face full of big pimples, and her attempts to get rid of it were not exhilarating. Finally after did some researches, she found out how to solve her pimple problem, and she also demonstrated what she often do in pampering her skin into a healthy and glowing complexion.

Speaker 6
TM Budi Anton Panjaitan on his BM#7 : Research Your Topic, explained about his own experience with Sleep Paralysis. Most of people correlate this situation as a form of demon attack, seeking revenge, even tormenting people, or felt a presence of a negative entity, our even seeing our body as if we're already died. While it is in real situation is undoubtedly scary experience, science told us that it is normally occurs when our body start to enter sleeping state, yet our mind still remained conscious. It can be as an alteration from some factors in our physical life, such as lack of sleep, sleep disorder, stress, pressure at work, and a lot more.

Speaker 7
TM Herman Santoso closed his last basic manual project BM#10 : Inspire Your Audience, with an inspiring story of his own experience entitled : $200K Mistake. It was the hard time he had been through while accidentally made a great mistake that put him down so hard. All the way he struggle to keep going to get through of those bad times. He said that mistake is a stepping stone in our life, and also the best lecture. It will help us to transform into a better person, only if we don't repeat the same mistake again.

Ramasdin Saragih,CC presented his advanced manual AM#2: Interpereting Poetry with the title: People of Faith.

Speaker 9
M. Fatah Akbar, CC, CL,  at his AM#5 : Technical Presentations with speech title : The image of the city explained us the way we can give direction to other people in a city, by using paths, nodes, landmarks, edges, and district. He gave us eye-pleasing examples on how we can choose the city image components to direct someone to some place.
